Multiple Volusia County divisions were recognized during the Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau’s third annual Visitor’s Choice Awards. At the event, staff from Volusia County Beach Safety, Volusia County’s Coastal Division, the Ocean Center, and the Marine Science Center accepted honors in a variety of categories.

For the third consecutive year, Volusia County Beaches, spanning from Ormond-by-the-Sea to New Smyrna Beach, was honored with the Award of Excellence. This achievement reflects the continuous preference of visitors across numerous categories. Volusia County Coastal Division’s Lighthouse Point Park secured its own third consecutive victory for Best Park. Located in Ponce Inlet, this park features boardwalks, picnic pavilions, an observation tower, a dog-friendly swimming beach, and a jetty deck for fishing enthusiasts.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Tammy Malphurs, Interim Director of Volusia County Beach Safety, remarked, “We're deeply honored to receive this award. Our lifeguard team is highly respected and esteemed by lifeguard agencies nationwide due to our daily excellence, which helps make our beach a top destination for millions of annual visitors. Our commitment to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our beaches remains unwavering.”

Volusia County’s Ocean Center and Marine Science Center were also honored as runner-up in the categories of Best Entertainment Venue and Best Family Entertainment, respectively.
