Get your hands wet – literally
– at a new stingray touch pool that features cownose stingrays and
hermit crabs. The hands-on pool is the latest of the many
features of the MSC.
At the 13-foot-long, 1,400-gallon pool, visitors can reach in and
feel unique creatures. In addition to cownose rays and Atlantic
stingrays, several kinds of fish (an Atlantic bumper, a permit and
Atlantic spadefish) and a variety of invertebrates such as horseshoe
crabs, anemones, sea urchins, hermit crabs and many other organisms
that inhabit our local waters are in the touch pool. Special
floating trays will allow visitors to handle safely the smaller
animals.
